The vitamix is such a versatile tool in the kitchen it even makes healthy versions of sorbet, ice cream and frozen desserts simple to prepare. My kids love when I whip up frozen banana with any number of frozen fruits- especially cherries but also have tried blueberries raspberries and strawberries and the results are always sure to please. You can enjoy this as a guiltless dairy and sugar free treat that is filled with antioxidants and fiber- I don't mind if my kids eat seconds of this knowing it's all pure and good!! And why is dairy free important you might ask...many studies indicate that dairy in the diet is unhealthy not only due to the high sugar and cholesterol content found in such processed dairy products as ice cream -but also due to all the hormones and antibiotics that are currently used by today's dairy farmers. Have you read the China Study lately? A 20 year study that concludes that people in China who consumed high amounts of animal-based proteins were more likely to die from Western diseases such as cancer and heart disease.

Chocolate Cherry Sorbet

1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 bag frozen cherries (or any berry)
2 frozen bananas (peeled, quartered) 
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Add ingredients to Vitamix in the order listed above. Start on low speed and gradually increase, blend to desired consistency. 

Serves 4.

Note- You can freeze leftovers into ice cube trays and add to smoothies.
