Posted by rosanne walsh on Thursday, July 23, 2015, In : Cancer Prevention

We’ve all heard the saying “You’re going to worry yourself sick!” but how much truth is there to that statement?  Let’s take a look at potential effects of stress on our immune system and see how true this statement may be.

Sources of stress

Green & Grain Goddesses

Posted by rosanne walsh on Friday, February 28, 2014, In : The Art of Healthy Eating

Granted avocado and spaghetti are not tough sells on my girls for dinner- but the idea has legs. Think puréed spinach and beans for the face instead if the guacamole, or pesto flavored hummus. Blueberry or blackberry eyes, tomato mouth, you get the drift. My daughter almost didn't eat it bc she said she "didn't want to mess her hair" lol but we promised to make another one this week.

The Link Between Antibiotics & Cancer

Posted by rosanne spinali walsh on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, In : Cancer Causes
According to Dr. Jeff McCombs, Founder / CEO at McCombs Center For Health, "Studies have shown that a 5-day or 7-day course of antibiotics will wipe out the 100 trillion organisms/bacteria of the gut, leaving only a few antibiotic resistant strains. These antibiotic resistant strains will be the only ones present in the gut for up to a year and the composition of the intestinal bacteria will be permanently altered. As bacteria re-populate the gut, they will acquire antibiotic resistance ...

Looking beyond all doubt: Homoeopathic practitioner Dr Rajan Sankaran believes his field can work in harmony with modern medicine

The following article has been re-posted from the Bangkok Times:

Harmful Products Marketed Directed to Moms & Babies

Posted by rosanne walsh on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, In : Cancer Causes

It's bad enough that companies like Similac package, market and distribute formula products for babies that are filled with chemicals such as arsenic (from rice, especially brown) and harmful GMO-derived sugars, where even hospitals pass them off as not only safe for infant consumption but as "Closer Than Ever" to breast milk and as a "Complete Nutrition" alternative. But now they are seeking a bigger piece of the momma-directed marketing pie by launching a new product, “Similac Mom,” wh...

Posted by rosanne spinali walsh on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, In : The Art of Healthy Eating

The American Cancer Society recommends legumes such as chick peas as a key food group for preventing disease and optimizing health - high in folate, fiber and protein, they are a nutritional staple in kitchens for many cultures around the world. According to the American Institute of Cancer Research, 3 compounds in chick peas (saponins, protease inhibitors, and phytic acid) may help defend cells from the type of genetic damage that can lead to cancer.  Dietary Guidelines developed by the U.S....

Passing down the snack food aisle at CVS today on my way to pick up a magazine I could't help but notice this brand of cookies on the market called "Who Nu" - after a double take and a few pics with my iphone I decided it just begged for an exposéWith claims like "as much fiber as a bowl of oatmeal", "as much vitamin C as a cup of blueberries", "as much vitamin E as 2 cups of carrot juice, "as much vitamin A as two cups of tomato juice" etc yet ingredients like sugar (as the first ingredie...

Krazy about Kale

Posted by rosanne spinali walsh on Friday, October 26, 2012, In : The Art of Healthy Eating
What’s green, curly, has cholesterol-lowering and detox benefits, and is known to fight at least five different types of cancer? KALE! True, all things Kale are a national trend right now - kale is popping up everywhere in the grocery store (in the freezer, snack aisles, beverage cases) when it was once relegated to the corner of the produce aisle or reserved just as a decoration on appetizer platters - who really thought to buy it much less eat it? Admittedly I am an addict and have fallen...
